Mellah Nyamuba
ALCOHOL and marijuana have damaged my brain
Burnt my liver with cancerous smoke
Drug abuse, you are such a thief in the night
You came to kill and destroy my life
You have taught me how to steal and tell lies to my elders
I was once held in high esteem, but now I’m nonentity
Alcohol you have extinguished the flame in my life
After your consumption, I would dress up to look my best. but indeed I looked my worst
I thought drugs would allay my troublesome stresses, but I lost my inner beauty and self confidence
Now I have been deserted by friends and loved ones
I followed your path and I became yours, but you proved to be a misleading comrade leading me to my demise.
All alone I faced a lot of hardships
Sexually abused and bashed, Ii lost my inner beauty
I thought I was strong, but it was a Dutch courage
I decided to quit and get back my life on track
I realised that time waits for no man
After the giant step, I can’t believe how young I was
Now after successfully quitting the snare of drugs, I’m a free person
The pain has disappeared
Now I am step ahead of this game
I will try my best to abstain and refrain from drugs as they are like an open road which leads to a dead end!
