IF ONLY THE SOCIAL LEAGUE WAS THE REAL FOR DEMBARE. . . Gwekwerere, Sadomba leading HSL scoring charts

DYNAMOS are struggling for goals in this season’s domestic Premiership campaign with Emmanuel Paga, who is not an out-and-out goalscorer, leading the line for them

The Ghanaian forward has scored three goals so far this season as he leads the race for the Glamour Boys.

Paga was also DeMbare’s top scorer last season when he scored 10 goals for his paymasters.

At the halfway mark of the season, Paga is five goals adrift of Evans Katema, who is leading the race for the Golden Boot, with eight goals for newboys Bikita Minerals.

Ironically, Katema was deemed surplus to requirements at Dynamos after he struggled for goals during his time at the club.

Zimpapers Sport has established that the last Dynamos player to score a hat-trick was Takesure Chinyama, when the Glamour Boys hammered Blue Rangers 6-0 at Rufaro, on July 18, 2012.

While DeMbare are struggling for goals, the performance of their former players, in the Harare Super League, the top social football league in the capital, provides a reminder of the amazing poachers who used to play for the Glamour Boys.

After Match Day 13 in the Harare Super League, the leading goalscorer is former Dynamos star Evans Gwekwerere who plays for the league’s best side this season — Jameson Boys FC.

Gwekwerere, who became a huge hit at DeMbare during his six-month stay at the club in 2006, has scored 11 goals for Jameson FC this season.

He is averaging almost a goal a game.

Edward Sadomba, the speed merchant who is one of the best Dynamos players to emerge since the turn of the millennium, is also among the leading scorers.

Sadomba, who also plays for Jameson Boys FC, has scored seven goals this season.

He is bracketed on seven goals with Mike Zvomeyi of Stadic FC.

Another former Dynamos striker, Tendai Mwarura, is second on the top goalscorers’ charts with nine goals which he has scored for Diaspora FC, a club owned by England-based former DeMbare star David Kutyauripo.

Wirimai Mukudu of Cowboys has also scored nine goals.

The other former Premiership players who have scored goals in the league this season include Tawanda Nyamandwe (Diaspora FC), in the race for the Golden Boot include David Temwanjira (Diaspora), Denver Mukamba (ex-Diaspora), David Tamwanjira (Diaspora) and Gilbert Musangazhike (ex-Cowboys).

But the real star has been the ageless Godfrey Tapfumaneyi of Royal FC who has scored six goals even though he is older than most of the players who featured in the domestic Premiership.
