A 39-year-old Rusape man died after consuming an unsubstantiated amount of undiluted illicit alcoholic beverage.

Of late, there has been an upward trend in drug/substance use in the country.

Incessant efforts by Chamunorwa Chinzamba’s wife, Lizzy Sithole, to restrain him from taking the toxic illicit brew were fruitless.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Norbert Muzondo confirmed the development.

“Chinzamba was having an illicit brew at his house in Vengere suburb when Sithole tried to restrain him from drinking it. A misunderstanding ensued between the two and Chinzamba left the house.

“He did not come back. He was seen dead the following day in Vengere Park by Talent Ndlovu before a police report was made,” said Inspector Muzondo.

No foul play is suspected.
