UMnumzana Kelvin Dongonda ongu-agronomist kunkampani yeChems Africa ukhuthaze abalimi abafisa ukulima ama-butternut ukuba balandele indlela ezithile ukuze bethole isivuno esilohlonzi. Uthe ama-butternut avuma ngesikhathi sokutshisa.
“Ama-butternut alinywa ngesikhathi sokutshisa kusukela ekupheleni kwenyanga kaNtulikazi kusiya ekucineni kwenyanga kaMabasa ngomnyaka ozayo,” kutsho uMnumzana Dongonda.
Uqhubekele phambili esithi abalimi kumele bavule imizila nxa behlanyela inhlanyelo yama-butternut .
“Sikhuthaza abalimi ukuthi nxa behlanyela inhlanyelo yama-butternut bevule imizila ukuze angakhuli eminyene njalo akhule kuhle.
“Okunye njalo inhlanyelo yama-butternut ithatha amalanga ayisikhombisa ukuze amile njalo athatha inyanga ezintathu ukuze akhule,” kutsho uMnu Dongonda.
Uthe ama-butternut alemikhuhlane lezibungu ezinlutshwana.
“Ama-butternut alemikhuhlane egoqela i-powdery mildew, down mildew, leaf rust, early blight kanye le-late blight. Sikhuthaza abalimi ukuthi bafafaze izilimo zabo ngemithi egoqela i-mangozeb, copper oxycloride, belt, cartap kanye leMalathion ukuze zivikeleke kumikhuhlane lokuthi zingadliwa yizibungu,” kuphetha uMnu Dongonda.
