Injury derailed my career: Tandi

FOR Highlanders defender,  Andrew Tandi, a loan spell to Arenel could be the perfect move to get his career back on track after recovering from a career threatening injury.

Highlanders have loaned the defender on a six months deal to Arenel where he hopes to get some game time. Tandi had fallen down the pecking order in the Bosso defence since his career got derailed by injury.

The defender fractured his right fibula (calf bone) and dislocated his ankle in the abandoned Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium in May 2022 and the defender has not been the same since then.

At the time of injury, Tandi had cemented his place in the Bosso backline partnering with Peter Muduhwa at the heart of defence.“In all honesty, the injury derailed my career. The recovery road has not been easy, but since l have joined a new club.

I hope that l get some game time and get back to form. I think joining a new club will do me good in terms of exposure and proving that l can still play at the top level. All l need to do now is put in the work at Arenel,” said Tandi.

Tandi is a former Black Rhinos and Bulawayo City player. Tandi is not the only player who has been sent out on loan by Highlanders in the mid-season window. Striker,  Reason Sibanda has also been loaned out and is now with Bulawayo Chiefs. In the same window, Highlanders have been highly active bringing in the forward duo of Never Rauzhi and Nqobile Ndlovu.

Bosso have also bolstered in defence as they have brought in central defender, Arthur Ndlovu from Arenel.  Ndlovu has played for Mpopoma Pirates and Ciwu in the lower rungs of football. In 2018, he had a stint with Bulawayo Chiefs before going on to join Arenel and helping in their promotion to the top-flight league. He scored four goals in the process.
