This was at play when a 57-year-old man from Nhlekinyana Village from Msehleni area under Chief Gwebu in Esigodini, Matabeleland South Province walked in on his wife allegedly in bed with one of his male relatives.
Albert Mthupha couldn’t believe his eyes when he busted his wife having sex with one of his relatives.
Sensing danger, Mthupha’s wife and her alleged lover panicked and fled the scene to avoid being harmed.
Fuming with anger, Mthupha confronted Gladys Ndlovu, accusing her son of destroying his marriage.
As a form of retribution for her son’s infidelity with his wife, he dumped his wife’s clothes at their house.
However, the situation escalated when Mthupha threatened to kill Ndlovu and accused her of witchcraft.
Fearing for her life, Ndlovu reported the matter to the police, leading to Mthupha’s arrest and subsequent appearance before Esigodini magistrate, Jeconia Prince Ncube charged with threats to commit murder.
The court heard that sometime in December last year, Mthupha returned home from Bulawayo late one night and discovered his wife engaged in a sexual act with Ndlovu’s son. Ndlovu attempted to apologise for the incident but Mthupha rejected her plea.
On May 31, 2024 at around 11pm, Mthupha went to Ndlovu’s homestead and left his wife’s belongings there.
Ndlovu refused to accept the property and this angered Mthupha, who then poked Ndlovu on the face with his finger before he picked up stones to pelt Ndlovu with them.
Mthupha then armed himself with a stick, causing Ndlovu to flee and lock herself in the house. Seething with anger, Mthupha said he was no longer interested in the property.
He also said he wanted to kill Ndlovu, labelling her a witch. Fearing that Mthupha would live true to his threats, Ndlovu went and reported the matter to the police, leading to his arrest. The matter was postponed to a later date.
