Injury unites Tandi, Antonio

Curtworth Masango
HIGHLANDERS defender, Andrew Tandi, and Dynamos forward, Bill Antonio, have become close friends.

Tandi is nursing an injury, which he suffered in the Battle of Zimbabwe, after a lunging tackle from Antonio.

However, the incident has united, rather than split, the two young players.

“Bill Antonio apologised to me and I accepted it,” Tandi told H-Metro.

“He personally did apologise to me besides the public apology he wrote.

“We have kept in touch and we are slated to meet soon when I travel to Harare. “There is no bad blood between us as these things do happen in football.”

Antonio issued a public apology after the game.

“I’m sorry for what happened yesterday, it wasn’t intentional. I pray and hope that you have a speedy recovery.

“I pray to God that you come back and play the game again. I am sorry and wish you a speedy recovery.

“God bless you, Andrew Tandi,” said Bill.

Tandi said the injury has changed everything for him.

“The injury has affected my daily life as I can’t do things I used to do, especially playing football.

“It’s a bit difficult with the injury.

“I am grateful to the club, they have given me unwavering support throughout the recovery process.

“The fans have been majestic too, I really appreciate it.

He said he was recovering well.

Tandi suffered a fibula fracture.

“I am recovering well. I am sticking to the doctor’s guidelines. I was instructed to go for a review after six weeks, which will be on June 14.

“If everything goes well then I will start light training soon and it will determine when I will be able to come back,” he said.

He added;

“Before the injury, I was playing well and it might take a long time to get to my best and enjoy the same form.

“Normally, after an injury, you might find yourself hesitating to make critical challenges, at times, as there will be a fear of getting injured again.

“So, I tell myself I need to be strong mentally and fight my way back.

“With time, I know, I will be fully fit to play without any hesitation.”
