Award-winning Tshibilika music outfit Insimbi ZeZhwane stole the spotlight at a Heroes Day family fun show held at the ZKS Spinners Arena in Bulawayo, with a performance that proved to be a unifying force among spectators.
The event drew massive crowds from diverse age groups, ethnicities, and backgrounds, creating a festive space where Zimbabweans celebrated the nation’s heroes and their sacrifices as one big family.
Led by Brema, Insimbi ZeZhwane delivered a polished set filled with infectious rhythms and tight dance routines that kept the audience on their feet. The highlight came when the band jumped off the stage and performed directly in the arena, sharing the spotlight with car spinners who showcased daring drifting skills alongside the live music.
The thrilling, yet risky, collaboration, curated by comedian Ntando Van Moyo, had the crowd in awe, blending the adrenaline of motorsport with the energy of live performance.
Brema said the group was honoured to be part of the commemorations.
“It’s always a great thing to come together as Zimbabweans and celebrate our heroes, for they sacrificed for the nation to attain independence. We really enjoyed performing for our fans as they showed us so much love and appreciation,” he said.
Beyond the music, the arena offered a variety of attractions, including car drifting and spinning, horse riding, and even ostrich viewing. Motorsport enthusiasts were treated to high-octane displays from drifters such as AK 47, Mac D, Amakhosi, The Rock, and King Fly.
The event also attracted visitors from the United Kingdom, South Africa, Zambia, and Botswana, many of whom took the opportunity to explore nearby Khami Ruins, turning the day into a tourism experience as well.
Zakhele Mlilo of ZKS Spinners Arena said he was delighted with the turnout and the day’s success.
“It was more than just spinning and music. People came in their numbers to celebrate our heroes who dedicated their lives to making Zimbabwe free. We are grateful to enjoy the freedom of spinning, dance, and music together, not only here at the arena but across the nation,” said Mlilo.
