LOCAL micro-finance firm, Inter Crest Capital, had its property attached after failing to repay US$81 000 to one of its investors.

The investor, Auxilia Goromonzi, dragged the company and its directors, Precious Kwashirai and Roselinda Chopera, to the High Court.

She was granted a default judgment, an order for the repayment of her investment and obtained a writ of execution on August 30.

Yesterday, the Sheriff of Zimbabwe issued a notice of attachment of one of the firm’s immovable properties measuring 723 square metres in Ardbennie.

Following the attachment, the property will be sold in execution.

“In accordance with a writ of execution by the Registrar of High Court at Harare Sheriff Station on the 30/08/2024, a copy of which is attached to this notice.

“l have today placed under judicial attachment the following immovable property which is owned by you namely certain 713 square metres of land called stand 220 Ardbennie Township 2 of Subdivision A of Ardbennie situate in the district of Salisbury held under Deed of Transfer 6223/90, caveat 192/24,” reads the notice.

Goromonzi claimed that sometime in 2022 she was first made to invest US$27 000 before injecting another US$67 200 in January 2023.

She was promised a 10 percent of her total investment per month and would get her full amount back upon request.

Inter Crest Capital and its directors shall pay Goromonzi the sum of US$81 139, together with interest, thereon at the rate of 10 percent per month from the date of this order to the date of payment in full and costs of suit,” reads the order.

However, despite demand, neither the company nor its directors honoured the obligation to repay Goromonzi.
