Primary and Secondary Education Deputy Minister Angeline Gata has thanked President Mnangagwa for his policies on women’s empowerment and equality, which have facilitated the rise of young women into leadership roles.

This follows President Mnangagwa’s commitment to implement policies and laws that align with both international and constitutional standards to address gender equality.
Speaking during commemorations to mark the International Day of the Girlchild at Shashi View Primary School in Bindura, Deputy Minister Gata said education equips girls with the skills and confidence they need to pursue their dreams.
She urged girls to take action, believe in themselves, and pursue their dreams with vigour.
“I encourage young girls to cultivate a culture of supporting one another, creating a strong network, and transforming the world. Be each other’s keeper,” she said.

She said women have a reputation of undermining one another.
“This must become a thing of the past. We must support one another. We need to uplift each other and light each other’s candles,” she said and went on to acknowledge that many girls still face barriers that limit their potential.
“When girls are educated, healthy, and safe, they are more likely to contribute to their communities and the economy. Every dollar invested in girls’ education generates economic value.
“However, empowering girls is about more than just economics, it is also about creating a just and equitable society.”
The commemorations served as a clarion call for everyone to continue striving for gender equality and the empowerment of girls.
