IPHUPHO Lethu Traditional Dance Group, based in Esihlengeni, a peri-urban community situated about 20km from Bulawayo along Gwanda Road, today hosts a vibrant youth talent show aimed at discovering and nurturing emerging artistic talent.
The event, taking place at Esihlengeni Hall, has attracted young performers from the local community to showcase their singing and dancing abilities before an enthusiastic audience.
Adding glamour to the occasion is Rhumba star Godolude, who is attending as the guest of honour. The programme has also welcomed New Vision Dance Group from Bulawayo, whose participation has added excitement and diversity to the day’s performances.
Speaking at the event, Iphupho Lethu Traditional Dance Group co-founder Ms Patience Ndlovu said the talent show has been established to identify and develop gifted young people from Esihlengeni and surrounding communities.
She said the initiative also seeks to encourage young people to pursue careers in the creative arts. She further stressed that young people should not wait until they complete their education prior to exploring their talents.
“The arts industry offers countless opportunities and can become a sustainable source of livelihood. We want young people to realise that they can pursue their passion while they are still in school and build a brighter future through their talent,” said Ms Ndlovu.
She further expressed hope that the event will provide a platform for young artists to gain exposure, build confidence and contribute to the growth of Zimbabwe’s creative and cultural industries.
