IRAN is positioning itself as a competitive destination for Zimbabwean patients and tourists alike, with no visa barriers and low
travel expenses, the country’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe Amir Hossein, has said.
He said this during a cultural and tourism meeting that was held at the Iranian Embassy Cultural Centre in Harare on Thursday.
Ambassador Hossein said the embassy was charting a new path of cooperation between the two nations through medical
tourism.
He urged local tour operators and those who facilitate medical visits abroad to collaborate in building market representation and
forging the new path together with the embassy.
“We are excited to have you on board as a potential major market. Although it is a journey that is just beginning, we are
committed to achieving success together,” he said.
“I welcome you to this esteemed event and look forward to collaborating with our operators to drive business growth.”
He added that the two nations should work together to forge a way forward, leveraging market representation to achieve their
goals.
“From hospital technologies and pharmaceutical access to hospitality, food, and cultural similarities, medical tourism could
serve as the cornerstone of a wider partnership, fostering mutual growth in tourism, trade, and cultural exchange,” he said.
Meanwhile, Cultural Counsellor at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar, said Iran’s advanced
healthcare system is a key attraction for Zimbabweans seeking medical care abroad.
“Each of the countries is well-defined with civilisation and heritage, and an abundance of cultural affinities,” he said.
“We share a unique platform for strengthening our partnership and promoting our cooperation in the field of tourism and the
tourism industry.”
He said that it is upon this solid foundation of friendship, history, and mutual respect that we seek to expand our cooperation in
the wider sector of tourism.
“As you may be aware, both countries are blessed with exceptional assets to attract visitors from around the world,” he said.
“By partnering, we can unlock new opportunities and make significant strides in this market.”
Cocaz content creator Mr Kudakwashe Rashmen praised Iran’s affordable yet high-quality products and its resilience in
overcoming sanctions to develop its own technology and industries.
“Even the clothes I am wearing today cost less than US$10, yet they are of the highest quality. This is Iran.
“From clothing to agriculture, from tractors to cars, the products are not only affordable but also reliable,” he said.
