KNOX Mutizwa is on the hunt for a new club and could this draw him into the Dynamos fold?
The former Warriors striker was offloaded by South African Premiership side Richards Bay, just months after joining the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.
He has already seen the likes of Khama Billiat, Knowledge and Walter Musona and Terrence Dzvukamanja, return home from South Africa to play in the domestic Premiership.
Sources close to the player have confirmed that the forward, affectionately known as “The Sniper,” has been granted a free transfer following a brief stint at the Natal Rich Boyz.
His departure opens the door for a sensational return to the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League.
Dynamos are emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.
Mutizwa joined Richards Bay in October last year amid a lot of fanfare, seeking regular game time, after a successful spell at Lamontville Golden Arrows. While he made an immediate impact, netting four goals in his first three appearances, his influence waned as the season progressed.
The club have opted to restructure their squad, leaving the veteran striker to search for opportunities elsewhere.
The potential move to Dynamos represents a full-circle moment for the striker, who began his professional career with Highlanders.
DeMbare are on the market looking for a proven goal-scorer to lead their charge in the upcoming Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
The club’s hierarchy views Mutizwa’s experience, and clinical finishing, as the missing piece to end their long-standing title drought.
While talks are said to be in the preliminary stages, sources indicate that Mutizwa is keen on regular game time.
“Dynamos have been made aware of the players’ situation and considerations have been made.
“The club will see if it will make an official offer but there is a possibility the club might want to add more firepower,” said a source.
