DYNAMOS were aware they would be excluded from the 2026/2027 CAF Confederation Cup and they made last minute attempts to save the situation but it was a little too late, Zimpapers Sports Hub has established.
DeMbare’s exclusion is linked to an unresolved salary issue with former coach Saul Chaminuka.
The Harare giants reportedly owe Chaminuka about US$13,000 and the veteran gaffer took the matter to the world football governing body FIFA.
Dynamos tried to make a partial payment but FIFA reportedly demanded the full amount to be paid before DeMbare were included in the 2026/2027 draw.
The CAF Confederation Cup draw will be held at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo on Thursday afternoon and Dynamos will not be part of the process.
Dynamos had earned the right to represent Zimbabwe in the continent’s second tier interclub competition after winning the Chibuku Super Cup last season.

A source told Zimpapers Sports Hub that DeMbare were made aware of their situation “a long time ago.”
The local football mother body ZIFA also advised Dynamos of their fate, well before the deadline passed.
It is not the first time Dynamos are facing the same situation with CAF.
Ahead of the 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup, the Glamour Boys narrowly escaped being kicked out over a case involving US$27,000 that was owed to former striker, Evans Gwekwerere.
DeMbare had not honoured a High Court order from 2018, while Gwekwerere, with the help from the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe, could not find any property to attach from the club.
The Harare giants then engaged Gwekwerere leading to a compromise.
