It was not possible for Christ to be held in the grave

Looking at the unseen

PSALM 16:8-10
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. [9] Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. [10] For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
The resurrection of Jesus was a must. Death could not hold Him in the grave because the scriptures could not be broken.
The coming of a Christ, His death, burial and resurrection were all predicted from the Old Testament
David had prophesied that Jesus would not remain in the grave to rot. He would not be corrupt in death. He would rise before His body corrupted.
Peter confirmed that David was not speaking about himself, but was speaking about Christ.
Acts 2:24-27
Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. [25] For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for He is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: [26] Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: [27] Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
David’s grave is here on earth. The only one with an empty grave is Jesus. David being a prophet foresaw the resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus knew that Scripture had spoken that He would not see corruption. That is how He told the Jews to destroy His body and he would raise it up within three days.
John 2:19-22
Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. [20] Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? [21] But he spake of the temple of his body. [22] When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
Jesus relied on the Scripture of David to base His faith that He would rise without seeing corruption. He knew that within three days He would not have corrupted. He knew that Scripture could not be broken. If there is a Scripture, the devil cannot do otherwise. Scripture has to come to pass.
His resurrection was a must.
Christians must remember that if there is a Scripture that pertains to their situation, the devil is defeated already. God makes His Word to be fulfilled, regardless. If God said it, that settles the issue.
Because Jesus knew about His resurrection, He told His disciples about it before it happened. He told them the period He would be in the grave. He had to rest in the grave in hope, as David had prophesied.
In Luke 18:31-33, He told of how He would be ill treated but how He would rise:
Then He took unto him the 12, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. [32] For He shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: [33] And they shall scourge Him, and put Him to death: and the third day He shall rise again.
When you have a Scripture, your future is predictable.
When God promises you something, you might as well plan your future accordingly.
When He promised Abraham that he would have a child, Abraham could plan his future with that in mind.
When He said Israel would go out of bondage, Joseph refused to be buried in Egypt. He planned his burial place with a promise in mind.
If you are holding onto a promise, refuse to be buried by your condition. Refuse to accept what the devil dangles before you. Wait patiently for Scripture to be fulfilled.
If you God promised you good health, it is not possible for you to be held down by sickness. When God promised you prosperity, you might as well work with the end in mind, regardless of your present condition.
If you have a Scripture in your situation, it is not possible for that misfortune or evil condition to barricade you forever from getting to what God promised you. Scripture cannot be broken, under no circumstance.
As Jesus rested His resurrection on Scripture, rest your own success on Scripture. As it was not possible for Christ not to rise, so is it also impossible for you not to rise out of your grave of circumstances.
