Wamambo, took to the stage at the launch of his new album “It’s My Season”.
I got more than I had bargained for.
People from different denominations gathered to witness the launch and birth of a powerful vision called Praise Outcome led by Pastor Prince Mafukidze.
Media, Information and Publicity Minister Webster Shamu, who was the guest of honour at the launch, showered Mafukidze with praises saying the launch was a “birth of a powerful vision called Praise Outcome”.
“A vision that endeavours to empower our loving and aspiring artistes by creating a platform they can rise from, a mentorship programme that will go beyond generations,” Shamu said.
It was my first time to attend an album launch where the artiste does not sing his songs throughout but actually joins the audience while giving other talented singers an opportunity to demonstrate their gifts.
One after the other the singers took
the stage and presented songs from Pastor Mafukidze’s previous albums to the
latest.
He only got on stage and performed three songs to wind up the fun-filled night.
Over the years Prince Mafukidze has demonstrated that it’s possible to bring together talents from different denominations and age groups.
Just looking back to some of the works that he has done, in 1996 he was the director of a concept called “Sold Out Musical”, a non-denominational production comprising about 150 voices, instrumentalists and dancers. This project ran for about two years.
In 1998 he was involved in a production “Keep Hope Alive” that raised funds to set up a children’s home, the Village of Hope in Harare, currently housing over 100 orphans. He was the co-producer of the “Keep Hope Alive” albums 1 and 2.
His first professional worship experience was at the tender age of nine years at an AFM Church meeting where he stood up to sing a worship song and the congregation joined in utter amazement.
Pastor Mafukidze is a renowned Zimbabwean gospel musician/psalmist whose brand of music has an appeal that cuts across the generational divide.
With strong yet effortless vocals Prince is a natural whose music resonates with praise exhortation and pure prophetic worship.
The power of gospel music lies in staying connected to the source of life Jesus Christ. In the midst of our challenges one needs to fill his/her mind, soul, body and spirit with words that bring life.
I definitely recommend every one in Zimbabwe to get a copy of this new offering and enjoy the gift of life.
Please don’t burn music ever again, support local artistes.
Till next time.
