A TONGOGARA Refugee Camp inmate will spend the next 18 years behind bars after he fatally stabbed a fellow inmate for allegedly proposing love to his juvenile ex-wife.

Simbarashe Mauraye Simango was slapped with the heavy sentence when he appeared before Mutare High Court Judge, Justice Isaac Muzenda facing murder charges as defined in Section 47 (1) (a) or (b) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.

In his ruling Justice Muzenda said society abhors such type of conduct saying the accused violated God given right of life and the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

The state led by Prosecutor, Mr Malvern Musarurwa heard that Muyambo, who resides at Number 147, Section 9, Tongogara Refugee Camp, on May 4 2020, approached the deceased and asked him why he was talking to his ex-wife (name witheld), who is a juvenile.

The deceased tried to explain to him that he was not proposing love to her.

Muyambo went berserk and started assaulting the deceased.

He stabbed him with an okapi knife once on the stomach causing serious injuries and heavy bleeding.

On May 6 last year Dr Brian Makumbe carried out a post mortem examination and concluded that the cause of death was due to exsanguinations.
