Film lovers looking to see famed Bulawayo urban legend, Jane The Ghost, come alive on the big screen will have to wait a little longer to watch the movie as production has stopped because of lack of funding.
The movie is about Bulawayoas tale of a mysterious woman who used her irresistible good looks to terrorise gullible men around Hyde Park Cemetery. Whenever they picked her up thinking they had scored a night to remember with a rare beauty, she would leave them smarting as she disappeared into thin air.
A teaser of the film walked away with a Nama award earlier in the year, giving hope that the Yasibo-produced full length movie would be coming to the big screen soon.
However, that seems to be a forlorn hope at the moment as production on the movie has come to a halt.
a?We hit a financial snag with regards to Jane the Ghost and right now as things stand we have stopped production.
We have had to turn our attention to making a series called Qhwayi because the money for the production of Jane is just not there,a? said the movieas producer Lenni Sibanda.
Sibanda said although production on the movie had stopped, they had not lost hope of bringing their vision to life.
a?We are currently in talks with other producers from Harare who might come on board and help financially while we are also running our own projects on the side that might help us achieve self sufficiency,a? he said.
Sibanda added that they were also working on improving their presence on the web, as it was a potentially big market for film producers in the country.
