A JEALOUS woman stormed a high school on the closing day of second term and, in a fit of rage, attacked a 15-year-old schoolgirl whom she accused of having a romantic relationship with her husband.
Tafadzwa Sherekete, 28, of Plot 1 Lisapi Drift on the outskirts of Rusape, was arrested for the barbaric offence.
She appeared before Rusape magistrate, Daphine Maruta, facing one count of assault.
She did not waste the court’s time and pleaded guilty to the offence.
She was not represented by a lawyer.
Magistrate Maruta convicted her of the offence and sentenced her to 10 months imprisonment before suspending three months on condition of good behaviour.
The magistrate also suspended the remaining seven months of the sentence on condition Sherekete performs 245 hours of community service at Woodlands Primary School.
Prosecutor Innocent Moyowaonda told the court that Sherekete attacked the teenager using clenched fists and open hands,
“On August 4, 2025, at around 2pm, Sherekete confronted the complainant at Dekwende Secondary School accusing her of having an extra marital affair with her husband and the complainant denied the allegations.
“This did not go down well with Sherekete who assaulted the complainant several times with fists and open hands all over the body.
“Complainant sustained no visible injuries and was not medically examined,” Moyowaonda said.
