Jeys new video to focus on the girl child

The video for the song Yamitha kanjani will be extracted from Jeys Marabini’s latest album Jeys@ 40.

In an interview, Jeys told Saturday Leisure he was working with different groups in shooting his forthcoming video.

“I decided to shoot a video for one of my favorite songs Yamitha kanjani because I wanted to create awareness that children are more likely to be raped by close relatives than strangers,” he said.

Marabini said on the video he is going to feature different groups and some of them include Thandanani Women Ensemble, Umkhathi, Ziyawa and Khayisa.

“The groups that I chose to work with on this project have been in the music industry for a long time and they have managed to make their names,” he said.

Marabini said the video is going to be directed using a script to try and bring out the message that is being portrayed through the song.

“Everyday we are getting reports of young girls being raped by close relatives and this is even more disturbing.

“So I decided to turn this song into a video as I want to educate parents out there about the rape cases we are getting these days,” he said.

Marabini said all the groups are busy working on the choreography before they could go and film their final product.

“We have been rehearsing for the past three weeks now and the video is going to be shot any time soon. This project is also meant to prove that Bulawayo still has got talent,” he said.

Yamitha kanjani is a song about a young girl who was raped by her father who took advantage of the fact that the two stayed alone.

Marabini broke into stardom around year 2000 with one of his most successful video Umuzi kaBaba that he shot with the help of Thandanani Ensemble.

Jeys @ 40 is a 12-track-album that was released a few months ago and some of the songs that are part of this project include Inkomo, Ukufa, Sakubona, Selimathunzi, , My Girl, Esizini, Mukadzi Haarowi and  Yamitha kanjani.
