The series has 13 episodes, written by script writers Mandisi Gobodi, Thembelihle Moyo and Nkosinomusa Moyo.
In an interview yesterday, director of the series Cont Mhlanga said the scenes were being shot in different locations in and around the city.
He said preproduction began two weeks ago after Jomic gave them the green light to start shooting.
“Today we are at Inyathi shooting footage for one of the scenes of the series. Over the past week we were shooting in Emakhandeni and around Bulawayo. Tomorrow we will be at eRenkini and Emakhandeni,” said Mhlanga.
He said in terms of filming, everything was on schedule but could not give an exact time period of how long the production would take.
“We are on schedule with no hiccups, but I cannot tell you how long this process will take because there are other factors that have to be considered,” said Mhlanga.
He said he would soon begin doing rough editing before going to online editing in the studio.
“Rough editing will be done at the studio after that we shall jump to online editing. Everything has started and we will have a great production,” said Mhlanga.
He said a mobile van studio would be used to record the series.
The Nyaminyami series cast has seasoned actors such as Alick Zulu, Precious Makhulumo, Mandla “Sinjonjo” Moyo, Bobo “Sibali” Dlamini, Sandra Ndebele and Victor Khatsiso.
The raw talent includes Lindy “Nadia” Nyathi, Nomvuyiso “Aggie” Mabi, Lawrence “Jimalo” Mwale, Donald “Bricks” Sibanda and Bonisanani Mahayiza.
The Nyaminyami series is set in the fictitious Republic of Nyaminyami. It depicts the extent of political polarisation, intolerance, violence and their consequences.

Tolerance has a sister Theo, an aggressive political activist. Tolerance hates violence but she finds herself surrounded by it. She has ambitions of owning a hotel some day.
