JUST when local music followers were still trying to come to terms with the impending departure of local Ragga Manyika outfit Assegai Crew, another local hero, Juicer Mpostori, has left Mutare for Harare in search of greener pastures.
While Assegai Crew are yet to pack their bags to the capital city, Juicer has already settled there and can now only come to Mutare as a visitor, The Weekender has learnt.
In an interview on the sidelines of this year’s edition of the Kumakomoyo Arts Festival, Juicer, whose real name is Wiriranai Maenda, said his move to Harare was necessitated by his unquenchable thirst for glory.
He took a swipe at local promoters who only support Harare-based musicians instead of promoting local talent.
“I had no option. We have been in the music industry for quite sometime, but promoters let me down. They support people from other cities instead of nurturing local talent, which is abundant. People in Mutare do not support music so I decided to go to Harare to enhance my music career, which is promising. I am a youthful musician who still has a lot to offer so Harare will be a better place for me. Mutare will, however, be engraved in my heart. I grew up in Sakubva and my heart will always be there,” said the Unondiona sei hitmaker
