ACTOR Taurai ‘Junior Gringo’ Boora says he will release his first project of the year next month.
It is dubbed ‘Gringo PaKomboni’ and features a number of veteran actors.
The actors include Mbudzi Yadhura, Mudhara Gweshegweshe and Shereni, just to mention a few.
The trailer of the drama has excited Junior Gringo’s fans.
His acting adventure started when he was in Form 3 when he featured in a school play called ‘Is it a Crime?’
Although his family wanted him to focus on basketball, he pursued acting in secret, inspired by his father’s passion and dedication.
“I would see how my father loved acting, he would lock himself in a room and rehearse for hours.
“After finishing school, I worked at ‘Pamukwidza Art Club,’ which made my father realise my passion for acting.
“He started supporting me, educating me on the industry’s challenges and helping me grow as an actor,” said Junior Gringo.
He loves working with more experienced actors in the industry.
“They push me to keep going, reminding me that one day tichasangana nemukaka nehuchi.”
He acknowledges the challenges faced by actors in the industry.
“We couldn’t release Season 3 of ‘The Return of Gringo’ due to financial constraints. We need support to keep our projects alive.”
Junior Gringo has received support from many individuals, including Dr Marisa and Chisanyama, who also helped his family during his father’s illness.
With several projects in the pipeline, including “Gringo Yamairipi” and “Step Up”, Junior Gringo says he is on the right track.
“February will be the month of collaboration where we will be going to South African and Botswana to get help on the drama ‘Step Up’,” he said.
He has worked with International actors like Leon Schuster, popularly known as Mr Bones, and Nigerian actor, Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia.
