CAPS United defender Brian Kadamanja believes he is getting back to his best form thanks to the faith shown in him by Zambian gaffer Ian Bakala.

Kadamanja was on the radar of Dynamos, Highlanders, TelOne, and Simba Bhora when he opted for Makepekepe two seasons ago after an impressive season with Yadah.

But, he endured limited game time last season, something which left him cursing the day he joined the club.

Kadamanja produced a man-of-the-match display when CAPS United registered a 1-0 win against Manica Diamonds at Rufaro on Sunday.

Makepekepe fans were surprised when Bakala deployed Kadamanja as a defensive midfielder in their must win fixture.

The absence of Tanaka Shandirwa, Kundai Benyu, and Bernard Chipanera forced the Zambian to turn to Kadamanja for the holding midfielder role.

Kadamanja stepped up and shielded the team’s defensive unit as he kept the Gem Boys’ attacking midfielders in their tracks.

Kadamanja has quietly been Bakala’s man of emergency since he took over from Lloyd Chitembwe earlier this campaign.

Tables have turned for Kadamanja, who has now gone from strength to strength, establishing himself as Bakala’s most reliable player in critical moments.

The Since Bakala’s arrival, Kadamanja has played as a central defender, right-back, left-back, and holding midfielder, something which speaks volumes about how he fits in, his defensive attributes, and ability with the ball.

“I’m one of the players who are very comfortable with trying anything new, and I have always believed that I can play as a defensive midfielder, but I can only thank coach Bakala for the faith he has shown in me,” said Kadamanja.

“It has not been a good season for the club, considering our position on the league table, but we are determined to finish the campaign in a respectable position.

“I think I have regained my confidence to showcase my ability, and as players, we know the task at hand. Everyone knows that we have to be at our best to avoid relegation.”

CAPS United are on 38 points, and they need at least two points from their last three assignments to survive the drop.
