DYNAMOS have taken their last technical throw of the dice by settling for former Highlanders gaffer Kelvin Kaindu in yet another desperate move to save themselves from falling into the relegation pit.
The former champions already have one foot into the relegation trap.
And after suspending coach Saul Chaminuka, pending dismissal, DeMbare have turned to Kaindu with the hope that the Zambian coach and church pastor could deliver them from the quagmire.
The Zambian gaffer comes in to replace Saul Chaminuka who was suspended for “failure to bring positive results and indiscipline”.
Chaminuka, who of late has been taking a swipe at referees whom he is accusing of having some conspiracy to kick out Dynamos from the league, was handed a two-match ban after being found guilty of causing the abandonment of DeMbare’s game against FC Platinum last month.
He has already served the first of the two-match suspension one against Manica Diamonds at Rufaro on Thursday and was due to complete the suspension against Chicken Inn in Bulawayo tomorrow.
He has been adamant he would save the Glamour Boys from the axe in the final 12 games of the season from which Dynamos need to squeeze more wins than anything else to stand a good chance of avoiding the chop.
But with the giants, who are deep in the relegation zone with 16 points and 17th on the log yesterday decided to change personnel at the helm as their situation is increasingly becoming dire.
Although Chaminuka has shown promise here and there, Dynamos bosses were now sure he wouldn’t be the one to lead them off the danger zone with executive chairman Moses Maunganidze saying: “Yes, we have decided to go for Kelvin Kaindu to try and save our ship from sinking.
“This is one of the most difficult years we have had to endure. Desperate situations call for desperate measures but we are not panicking.
“We know Kaindu will deliver us from this situation. We are very keen to see our transformation. It’s not like we are saying Chaminuka is a bad coach.
“He is a top coach but things have unfortunately not been moving well for us. What we need at this point in time are results. We are running out of games and we need to start picking points.
“We are very hopeful Kaindu will turn things around and we will avoid the chop. For now that’s his primary responsibility and we will give him maximum backing.”
Kaindu who was recently fired at Highlanders for supposedly failing to sustain the Bulawayo giants’ title push yesterday travelled to Bulawayo ahead of Dynamos’ clash against Chicken Inn at Barbourfields tomorrow.
Try Ncube is currently in charge of Bosso but the Bulawayo giants have continued to blow hot and cold. And Kaindu will be out to prove his mettle after moving to Highlanders’ biggest rivals.
Dynamos travel to Chicken Inn with the hope of getting the full points against a team that is also struggling to stand on their feet.
At the top of the table, the race is getting hotter and leaders Simba Bhora head to Mutare to face relegation haunted Manica Diamonds tomorrow while second-placed MWOS have a stern test against Herentals at Ngoni this afternoon.
