Rumbidzayi Judith Kamba, who has been revolutionising the fashion industry through her unwavering dedication to

empowering women and girls, has been honoured by the Salon International Du Textile Africa (SITA) as its new ambassador to

the United States and Africa.

Her new role, which is in recognition of her dedication to women’s empowerment and fashion, will see her representing SITA

to stakeholders in the fashion and textile industry, forging strategic partnerships, and promoting African textiles

internationally.

It will help her to continue shining a light on African textiles and empower women in the fashion industry.

SITA is a platform for African textiles that brings together representatives from 40 African countries, facilitating exchanges and

partnerships between artisans, designers, and textile manufacturers on a Pan-African and international scale.

As ambassador, Kamba, who is the founder of ZiMwana Worldwide Trust, will carry the message of cooperation and innovation

to institutions, businesses, and influential personalities in the American textile sector.

Zimbabwe has participated in SITA for the past six years, with notable fashion designers like Kidd Hunta, Sozinio, Feli Nandi,

and Lovemore Hama attending the event.

This year, Ishamel Zargue’sia and Ivhu Tribe will represent Zimbabwe in Gabon and more than 40 countries are expected to

attend.

Kamba’s appointment as SITA ambassador is a significant boost for fashion in Zimbabwe, placing the country on the global

map.

“My expertise and network will play a crucial role in connecting SITA management with industry leaders,” she said.

“My new role will ensure that African textile cotton fabric is harnessed for sustainable development, thereby promoting Africa’s

economic transformation through cotton-made designs at a global level.”

SITA encourages all African countries to embrace cotton farming and production, fashion designing and the creative industry,

resulting in new trade patterns and promoting the African Continental Free Trade Area.

SITA’s commissioner general, Abdoulaye Mosse congratulated Kamba, expressing his organisation’s confidence in her skills

and commitment to promoting its values and objectives.

“We will support you in this mission through regular exchanges on SITA values. We are excited as you join us in strengthening

the presence and influence of African textiles in the United States,” he said.
