. . . Kanyemba joins Tenax

FORMER Mutare City Rovers team manager, Lyndon Kanyemba, the man who shed tears after being subjected to untold trauma by the team’s supporters late last season when their Premiership promotional campaign went up in smoke has crossed the floor to join city rivals, Tenax.

Kanyemba was in the eye of a storm late last season when he was accused by a section of City Rovers fans of sabotaging the club’s Premiership promotion campaign from within.

As accusations and counter accusations took centre stage within the Mutare City Rovers camp late last season, Kanyemba was declared an enemy within and some sections in the team even went on to accuse him of working in cahoots with Dongo Sawmills.

He eventually made his way out of the mainstream administration and technical leadership of the club.

Kanyemba confirmed that he was now working with Tenax in the club’s quest to gain Premiership promotion.

He said he has always been a football personality, remains one and will not hesitate to work with progressive friends of the game of football, if need be.

“I have always been a football personality as a player and as an administrator as well as in technical capacity. I love football and I have gone through some nasty experiences in football as well as memorable experiences.

“This is why I decided to work with Tenax when they expressed interest to work with me. I will serve the team diligently, with undivided attention.

“I strongly believe that Tenax have what it takes to attain their ambitions and with the orderliness that prevails at Tenax both on and off the field of play I have no doubt that we will be able to get what we want in this campaign,” said Kanyemba.

Tenax have a strong side, but inconsistency on their part and biased match officiating has been militating against their Premiership promotion aspirations.

Only on Sunday, Tenax dropped three points when they succumbed to a morale sapping 1-2 defeat at home at the hands of log leaders Masvingo United at Sakubva. They are eighth on the latest log table with 19 points from 12 matches and a game in hand.

Tenax vice chairman, Henry ‘Kode’ Marapira, said they had learnt a number of lessons over the recent seasons they have been part of the Zifa Eastern Region Division One League.

“We have learnt a number of lessons over the past seasons that we have been in the Zifa Eastern Region Division One League.

“The competition is tight and there is also need for good corporate partnership in order for a team to go all the way to winning the league.

“We hope we will be able to put our act together and gun for glory this time around and that is why we have maintained an open door policy hence the inclusion of local football personalities like Kanyemba in our team,” said Marapira.
