SOUTH Africa-based gospel singer, Florence Magwada, has collaborated with comedian, Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima, in her sixth album titled ‘Kutamba Nezita’.
The eight-track album was recorded and produced by Zimbabwe’s finest producer, Gibson Makumbe, of V.O.T Studios in Harare.
The album teaches about good morals and how people should desist from mocking others.
In an interview with H-Metro, Magwada said she roped in Kapfupi owing to his influence.g.
“I featured Kapfupi because we have some fans in common who listen to gospel through jokes.
“We know he has a huge following and his jokes appeal to everyone, including children, so the collaboration was meant to spread the gospel to everyone across the country.
“Most people will also be interested to hear gospel music being sung by a comedian like Kapfupi.
“This is our first collaboration but we are not stopping here as we have a lot in store for our fans and I am happy that they are enjoying the music,” Magwada said.
Makumbe said since Magwada is based in South Africa, he had to travel there and record the songs before mixing them here in Zimbabwe while incorporating Kapfupi’s vocals.
“I travelled to South Africa to record the songs and compile the alum then I had to come back and do the final touches at my studio here in Harare. I am glad that the album came out well and we are expecting an overwhelming response from the fans,” he said.
Other songs in the album include Munopenya, Tinosimudza Meso Edu, Masuwo, Dzimurai Moto, Vana vatova Nherera, Kufamba Nengirozi and Amandla.
