Kampos, as Kapini is affectionately known, showcased his skills on the dance floor and gelled with the members of the Orchestra Mberikwazvo. The comical player should consider a career as a dancer when he finally hangs up his boots because he produced some fine dances. Dressed like the famous Orchestra Mberikwazvo chanter, Jonas Kasamba, the maverick goalkeeper took to the stage amid ululation and cheers from the crowd and rocked to “Zora Butter” all night long. Not to be outdone was Sweswe, the no-nonsense defender, who showed a thing or two the dance floor.
Encouraged by the soccer players, Macheso bemoaned the country’s failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, where the “Zora Butter,” could have been showcased on the global scale.
“I am humbled by the support I am receiving from the soccer players and I just wished if they had qualified for Afcon 2013, the ‘Zora Butter’ dance could have been exported to other continents,” he said.
The dance was popularised by Dynamos FC fans during their Premiership matches. Macheso has in the past introduced the trademark “Borrowdale”, “Razor Wire” and the famous “Slow Motion” dances.
