Kickboxing champion Chiturumane confident

Zimbabwe Kickboxing Association to select the national team that will take part in the Africa Championships to be held in Madagascar from April 23 to 29 and all provinces are expected to take part.
Six provinces — Harare, Matabeleland North, Mashonaland East, Midlands, Matabeleland South and Mutare — have confirmed their participation.
Chiturumane said he is confident he will retain the title despite facing some challenges during the preparations.
“My preparations are going on well at the moment but because we do not have enough equipment and some of the things, we have to work extra hard. I believe I can do it. It’s always a game, we are all fighters and everyone is training but it depends on one’s skills.
“I will just try my best,” said Chiturumane.
The defending champion said he was aware of the challenges he has to overcome in tomorrow’s tournament.
“I know it will be tough because it is the preparations for the selection of the national team and everyone wants to make it into the team. I believe all of us will do our best,” said Chiturumane.
Zika president, Tony Kamangira, said all was now set for the tournament, which was originally scheduled for last Saturday but was moved to tomorrow because of other commitments.
“We are done with all the logistics. The response has been quite good.
“We have got quite a number of provinces that have confirmed their participation. Last year we had three provinces only.
“For this tournament we have been working with the provinces, encouraging them to field their fighters because we are selecting a national team and it should not be dominated by fighters from Harare only.
“The competition is open and each province can bring all their best fighters,” said Kamangira
The national association is set to select 10 best fighters who will compete in the Great North One this month in South Africa as part of their preparations for the Africa championships scheduled for next month.
