King Labash shines @ Germany festival

BELGIUM-BASED dancehall artist, Lloyd “King Labash” Muponda, is living his dream.

His recent video, in which he is seen performing at a festival in Germany, has gone viral.

The Rasta Ndoenda Nemi singer performed in Germany at the Wuppertal Festival.

King Labash is raising the Zimbabwean flag on the international dancehall scene as he has been performing at a number of big European festivals.

The event was a Passa Passa street festival hosted by U-Club in Wuppertal, Germany.

King Labash staged with Liquid Fire Sound from Germany and  Mattia , aka Warrior Sound, of the World Champion Sound, who jumped on stage to mix for King Labash.

The video shows that the festival was attended by thousands of people.

King Labash started his first Europe tour in 2019 when he toured Austria, Netherlands and Belgium, where he is now based.

In an interview with H Metro, King Labash said:

“I have been doing this for a long time and I am happy to represent the country abroad because I know I am paving the way for fellow Zimbabwean artists.

“ I am also planning to team up with some promoters here to start bringing Zimbabwean artists to showcase their talents to the world.

“I am working with a lot of producers and selectors here in Europe, I have a project with Team Damp from Belgium, KD Sound System from Netherlands, Baby Bang Productions.

“I also have a couple of tracks with one of Belgium finest female singers, Slongs Dievanongs.”

He added:

“I am working on various projects and this summer I will be touring a lot of European countries for small and big festivals and club gigs.

“I am a man on a mission and have to accomplish it so that my Zimbabwean fellow artists can also follow the same route to make our country proud.”

King Labash, who revealed that he is working on an album to be released in October, lamented the lack of support from fellow countrymen.

“I think it’s high time we support our musicians yard (local) and abroad.

“If you want to see how big I am just post on social media saying ‘Gone too soon RIP King Labash’ you will see thousands of people posting pictures with me and a lot of condolence messages, but if I release a song now the people will not support it.

“That’s how sad it is nowadays, we celebrate the dead.

“I have got love for my people and I know that what I am doing today will help or uplift others tomorrow like what I did for Zimdancehall, “he said.

He revealed he was also starting to promote some Zimdancehall artists by connecting them with some European producers.

“Art becomes more popular when you are in a new world so sometimes it’s not good to be stuck in one place, man has to make moves,” he said.
