Kombi accident claims 5

truck and overturned once at the 50km peg along the Harare-Mutare highway on Saturday.
Of the seven injured, five of them are in a serious condition and are admitted at Marondera Hospital.
Mashonaland East police spokesperson Assistant inspector Thando Madhoyo said the truck, which was heading towards Harare, tried to overtake another vehicle, encroaching into another lane resulting in the accident.
“The truck side swapped the commuter omnibus and the driver lost control and overturned once causing the deaths. No one from the truck was injured,” he said. Ass Insp. Madhoyo said the names of the deceased were still being withheld as their next of kin were still to be informed.
“What we can only say is there are three female adults and two males. We urge motorists to drive cautiously and adhere to traffic rules because we want to avoid a bloody festive season,” he said. Two people recently died after a vehicle they were travelling in collided head on with a haulage truck and burst into flames at the corner of Robert Mugabe road and Rotten Row in Harare.
