to build the dam that has been touted as the answer to Harare Metropolitan’s perennial water problems in 2010.
A memorandum of understanding between the Government and the special purpose vehicle, Kunzvi Water Development Corporation headed by businessman Mr John Mapondera, was signed in December in Victoria
Falls, signalling a fresh commitment to start construction work. The project will be on a build-operate-transfer arrangement.
Water Resources Development and Management Minister Sam Sipepa Nkomo, said he was assured that the project will start in April.
“According to the project owners they are saying they will begin work in April. In the event that nothing comes out we will make a decision to implement plan B. Government cannot wait forever. The delays are not good for our country,” he said.
He refused to divulge what plan B entails but insisted he would make it public in the event work did not begin in April.
