A Kwekwe Polytechnic student will perform 210 hours of community service after the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court convicted him of fraud.
Nicson Munesu Madhumhe (21), an Automotive Engineering student, submitted forged Higher Education and Examinations Council of Zimbabwe (HEXCO) results in an attempt to register for On Job Educational Training (OJET).
A statement issued by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said Madhumhe failed three modules.
He then paid US$400 to Chancemore Sibanda, the chief security officer at Kwekwe Polytechnic, to forge his results.
In April 2024, Madhumhe received a forged HEXCO results slip with distinctions in the failed subjects.
When Madhumhe submitted his OJET application, the staff noticed some inconsistencies in the font size of his results.
A check in the National Examinations Management Information System was made and it exposed the fraud.
Madhumhe admitted to using forged results, which led to his arrest.
