A 28-YEAR-OLD Kwekwe woman has been fined US$200 after she slapped her father and smashed his car windows in a drunken domestic row.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed the conviction in a statement, without naming the woman or her dad.
The incident happened on 1 July, 2024, at the family home in Mbizo.
“She slapped him twice on the head and later smashed the rear and side screens of a Toyota Ipsum with a brick, causing damage valued at $250,” the NPAZ said.
The woman, who pleaded guilty, was convicted of domestic violence and malicious damage to property by the Kwekwe Regional Magistrates’ Court.
She was also given a two-month prison sentence, wholly suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The NPAZ urged families to handle disputes without violence.
“Families are urged to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid resorting to violence. Domestic violence undermines family unity and often leads to lasting emotional and financial scars,” read the statement.
