THE stage is set for the official opening of the 2023 Legal Year today.

Chief Justice Luke Malaba will preside over the event in Harare while his deputy, Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza will lead proceedings in Bulawayo.

Similar official ceremonies will also be held in Chinhoyi, Masvingo and Mutare.

The 2023 Legal Year will run under the theme: “Promoting competence and quality of service to enhance public confidence in the judiciary”.

This complements the Judicial Service Commission’s implementation of the Integrated Electronic Case Management System last year.

Now in its second phase, the e-filing system has been endorsed by various stakeholders.

Ahead of the official opening today, the JSC had embarked on a nationwide programme training member of staff, lawyers and employees’ associations how to register on the IECMS.

JSC head of corporate services, Daniel Nemukuyu, said the JSC maintains its stance to bring justice closer to the masses by constructing more courts around the country.
