Scary!
Villagers in Gokwe were left shocked after two men died within two weeks after they were mysteriously struck by lightning.
Last week on Sunday community members in Matemagasa Village under Chief Njelele woke up to sad news of the death of Samuel Moyo who was struck by lightning when he was answering nature’s call in his yard at around 8pm. According to a family source Moyo died on the spot.
“My uncle was struck by lightning while he was urinating in his yard and it was shocking because it struck him once and tore his shirt and pair of trousers, leaving him naked.
He died some minutes later. This has never happened in our family history and we strongly suspect my uncle was bewitched,” said the source.
A fortnight ago also from Matemagasa Village Tinovonga Makutse had a heated argument with his neighbour Ndodana Moyo over an undisclosed issue.
Makutse’s relative who requested not to be named in fear of victimisation said after the argument Moyo threatened Makutse with unspecified action.
The family insider said the following day Makutse woke up early in the morning and went to plough in the field. While he was busy ploughing a bolt of lightning fatally struck him.
The tell it all family insider said: “The lightning tore his clothes and left him naked and he died on the spot.”
Contacted for comment Moyo admitted that he had an argument with Makutse but denied ever unleashing lightning to kill the now deceased.
“I had an argument with the now deceased over an issue that I can’t disclose to you.
However, I strongly deny that I sent lightning to kill him. I believe it was just a natural incident that just befell him,”he said.
Fanuel Mhike who is the secretary to Headman Nyampiye confirmed the incident.
“I can confirm that in just two weeks we received two reports of two men who were fatally struck by lightning.
As a result I would like to advise community members to be on high alert and keep indoors when it’s raining,” said Mhike.
