Liverpool sign Fabinho

LIVERPOOL. — Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Monaco star Fabinho for £44million on a long-term contract.

The Reds have moved quickly to bolster their squad by announcing the arrival of the Brazilian international less than 48 hours after their defeat in the Champions League soccer final to Real Madrid.

Versatile Fabinho, a midfielder who can also play full-back, will officially become a Liverpool player on July 1 following a successful medical.

The 24-year-old told the club’s official website: “I am really excited about this move.

“This is something that I always wanted – this is a giant of a team.

“The infrastructures of the club look exceptional.

“A football club of this size coming after my services, I didn’t have to think that much about coming over.

“I will try to create my own history at this football club.

“Hopefully, on a personal level, I’m able to win titles with this club.

“I will try to grow and learn and improve myself, and to be part of the club’s history.”

Arsenal attempted a late hijack of Liverpool’s bid to sign Fabinho from Monaco.

The Gunners launched a move for Fabinho at the weekend but he had already decided to join Liverpool. — The Sun.
