DYNAMOS interim head coach Lloyd “MaBlanyo” Chigowe says, instead of mourning over his strikers’ failure to convert chances the team creates, they should work on their combination play upfront which could see their scoring problem solved.
Ahead of DeMbare’s participation in the Confederation of Africa Football Confederation Cup, Chigowe is confident that his team has a chance of doing well in the competition.
They are set to host ZESCO United at the National Sports Stadium in Gaborone in the first leg of the preliminary round on Sunday.
Asked if he is happy with his strike force, Chigowe hinted on what could be the solution for DeMbare.
“That is why l was talking of combination play. Sometimes when you rely on individuals it fails. We just need to work on our combinations in the final third. We don’t want to continue to mourn about the strikers.
“We would probably might have to register one guy and also de-register one or two other guys so that we sharpen our strike force. In football, you have to tamper around and find ways in which your team can win. That is why you even saw Pep Guardiola playing with a false nine before he had a natural striker in Erling Haaland. So, in football you have to find ways to win games,” said Chigowe.
Dynamos last scored more than one goal in a single match when they defeated Arenel Movers on May 23.
After 23 league games, they have scored 20 goals.
Log leaders FC Platinum have so far scored 33 goals.
Chigowe, who took over from Genesis Mangombe last Monday, called on their fans to rally behind the team in every competition they are in.
“The fans must continue to rally behind the team. We are within a shout in every competition that we participate in. If they get behind us, l think we are unstoppable,” said Chigowe.
