Local economists speak on regional disturbances

Post Reporter

LOCAL economists say the violence and looting that has erupted in neighbouring South Africa and the insurgency in Mozambique might affect business in Zimbabwe.

Mutare-based economist, Dr Gift Mugano, said most companies operating in the country relied on the importation of products from these countries but the link with ports has been cut.

He said this has affected the supply chain in the country.

Another economist Mr Prosper Chitamba echoed similar sentiments, saying truck drivers are at risk of losing their cargo and lives.
