ESTEEMED Zimbabwe sporting agency, Kyros Sports, which recently staged two international rugby matches involving South African teams in Harare and Bulawayo, is highly considering bringing a famed foreign football club to the country to play against local teams.
Kyros Sports spokesperson, Nyasha Muchochomi, said while he could not mention names and dates on when they were going to bring a foreign football team to the country, promoting sports tourism through football was at the apex of their aims.
a?I cannot say which club and when we are bringing them to the country but football is part of our next work. While we are so much into rugby we have managed to establish a soccer network in foreign lands. Our advantage as Kyros
Sports administrators is that we have sports degrees we studied for abroad,a? said Muchochomi.
Impeccable sources told B Metro Sport that the agency was extremely considering South Africaas Absa Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs for a tour to the country.
Chiefs, fondly known as Amakhosi by hordes of their followers in the southern part of the African continent, are also reportedly targeted by Bulawayo football giants for a free match which will be part of Bosso 90-year celebrations.
a?We will have to liaise with PSL and Zifa. Itas all about the local guys being keen on the match because we do not want to disturb the local football calendar. We are keen to always work on something and we will write letters to Zifa and we will consult broadly. We want to bring quality sport to the country. We believe this will help youngsters to see their role models in action,a? said Muchochomi.
Late last year Kyros Sports linked Highlanders forward Knox Mutizwa with a Swedish club but the purported deal could not materialise after the unavailability of the playeras action videos.
a?We would love to link local players with foreign clubs. Last year, we had done so with Knox Mutizwa but the unavailability of his action videos saw some talks with a Swedish club collapse. We are still looking around for talented players whom we will definitely link to foreign clubs,a? he said.
Mutizwa was later invited for trials by Mzansias elite football league side Bidvest Wits, who recently signed him before loaning him back to Bosso up to 1 July. .
