Lupahla challenges CAPS Utd players

before hanging his boots for a coaching role, believes CAPS United have assembled one of the best teams in the Premiership.
The former Zimbabwe international said the club, which has now suffered six years of agony since 2005 when they last won the championship under Charles Mhlauri, have the capacity to fight for honours this year only if they can have the right attitude.
CAPS had a promising start last year under Moses Chunga but their campaign took a nose-dive towards the middle of the season, with pressure from the fans who appeared uncomfortable to have the former Dynamos son at the helm.
The coming on of Maxwell Takaendesa-Jongwe could not help matters and Makepekepe ended up settling for sixth place, following a recovery inspired by the arrival of Lloyd Chitembwe.
Lupahla, however, believes the problem was more to do with the psychological issues rather than the talent of the players.
“The team had a very good start when we collected some valuable points at the beginning of the season but then we started going down.
“It was difficult for the boys to come back to their usual selves and we could not play our usual game until late into the season.
“We have worked hard during the off-season to correct the mindset. If you look back at the previous season we had a good team but we lacked that self belief.
“There is need to see a change in mindset. I still believe we have one of the best squads this season and we want to see that on the pitch.
“When we go to Shabanie Mine next week we want the players to walk onto the pitch with confidence and show that they are the best,” said Luphahla.
CAPS United will begin their Premiership campaign away in Zvishavane against Shabanie Mine next week.
They have roped in new players and engaged Northern Irish manager Sean Connor to boost their team.
