Lupane varsity student runs amok, stabs five

A Lupane State University student ran amok stabbing five students on their buttocks after he caught his lover in the arms of a love rival.

It is said Nigel Moyo last week on Friday caught his lover Charmaine Mudau in the hands of a student only identified as Shavirai. When he tried to ask what they were doing Shavirai turned him into a punching bag.

Shavirai left him on the ground gasping for breath. Nigel reportedly went to his room and fetched a knife. He headed straight to Shaviraia��s room.

When Shavirai saw him he took to his heels but he caught up with him and stabbed him once in the buttocks.

In a fit of rage, Nigel stabbed Weaver Ncube in the buttocks and also knifed Anelka Nyasha in the buttocks when they were trying to restrain him.

Contacted for a comment Mudau confirmed the incident.

a�?It is true that Nigel fought with five students and stabbed them in the buttocks. But I cana��t say much because the issue is being handled by the University authorities. May you please do me a favour and not publish my name,a�? she said.

Efforts to get a comment from Shavirai were fruitless as his phone went unanswered.

A witness, Gertrude Nhliziyo, confirmed the incident.

a�?We were having a mini-party. Shavirai decided to dance with Charmaine.A� When they were dancing and hugging Nigel came in. An argument ensued and generated into a fist fight. Nigel was hit and left lying on the ground,a�? she said.

She added: a�?After some minutes Nigel came back wielding and waving a knife prompting everyone to scurry for cover. He stabbed Shavirai, Weaver and Anelka,A� leaving them lying on the ground. He also stabbed two male students that were trying to restrain him. All victims were ferried to St Lukea��s hospital.a�?

Nigel was reported to the police leading to his arrest.

Lupane State University Director for Public Relations and Marketing Zwelithini Dlamini confirmed the incident.

a�?The incident happened and as a university we would like to urge students not to take the law into their own hands. I cannot comment much on the matter because it is being handled by the police,a�? he said.
