adminLONDON. — Manchester United flop David Moyes had a better record than Louis van Gaal at this stage . . . even after playing tougher games!
Van Gaal’s United scored a dramatic injury-time equaliser to earn a share of the spoils against Chelsea at Old Trafford.
The draw sees the Dutchman’s side move to the 13-point mark in the top flight.
However, that compares poorly to ex-United chief Moyes, who had 14 points at the same stage last season.
And to make matters worse for Van Gaal, Moyes’ points tally came despite tough encounters against the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Van Gaal, meanwhile, has only seen his side come up against one of last season’s top four so far.
He’ll be hoping to improve on his record when his side travel to neighbours Manchester City this coming weekend.
When he arrived at the club in July, Van Gaal warned fans to expect a slow start.
“Every club where I have been, I’ve struggled for the first three months,” was his message to supporters.
“After that, they (the players) know what I want — how I am as a human being and also a manager, because I am very direct.
“I’m not a coach who thinks short-term, I’m a coach who thinks always in the long-term.”
The Dutchman has had to contend with a host key injuries, meaning the likes of inexperienced academy prospects Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair have been fast-tracked into the first-team.
But, unlike Moyes, he has been able to splash the cash, with more than £150m spent on the likes of Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and the loan arrival of Radamel Falcao. — The Daily Star.
