A Mabvuku duo was yesterday dragged to court after they allegedly assaulted a suspected thief to death.
The two, Misheck Dunduru 24 and Takunda John 22, were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Isheanesu Matova.
They were remanded in custody and were advised to approach the High Court for bail considerations as they are facing a third schedule offense.
The court heard that on February 13 and along Rusitu Street in Mabvuku, the two met the deceased, Nelson Govhati.
Dunduru allegedly claimed that Govhati had robbed his brother of his property and they had come to recover the goods.
Dunduru assaulted the deceased using the wooden stick all over the body demanding to know where he had put his brother’s property.
The court heard that John, who had earlier on quarreled with the deceased, joined in and attacked the victim using stones and a hockey stick.
The victim was referred to Parirenyatwa hospital for treatment and he died the next day as a result of the assault.
Rufaro Chonzi appeared for the State.
