Spar Supermarket branch in Mabvuku.
The Mabvuku Spar is the group’s third such supermarket, with others being the Borrowdale Brook Spar and the Joina City Spar.
The group also runs businesses in security, farming, steel and automotive retail sectors in the country.
In an interview with the Herald Business, Scotia Holdings group chief operations director, Mr Herbert Takawira, said the launch of the Mabvuku Spar was part of the company’s strategy to bring quality retailing into communities.
“We perceive the people of Mabvuku as some of our important customers and rather than having them to travel into the city centre for quality retailing we have decided to bring the Spar brand to them.
“Notwithstanding the assured quality retailing that we offer, our prices will remain among the cheapest in town,” he said.
Mabvuku Spar will also service communities including Tafara, Caledonia, Chikurubi and surrounding areas.
The Scotia Group subsidiaries include: Amalgamated Motor Corporation, Scotia Steel and Manufacturing, Die and Pressure Castings, Ray and Brian, Scotia Security and Scotia Retail.
Scotia Retail operates the three Spar branches, and Rolnof Wholesalers.
