SUNGURA maestro Alick Macheso and his Orchestra Mberikwazvo are set for a blockbuster concert in Durban tomorrow night.

He will follow this up with another show in Cape Town on Saturday night.

This is Macheso’s first tour of Jozi this year.

The superstar commands a huge following here and will be playing in the KwaZulu Natal province for the first time in a number of years.

Most of Macheso’s shows have been in Johannesburg.

However, this weekend’s gigs provide a rare opportunity for his legion of fans who are resident in KwaZulu Natal and Western Province.

Running under the Madirirano banner, the shows are set to break records.

Promoters have been bemoaning the high costs involved in bringing artists from Zimbabwe in these trying economic times.

The Durban show is being hosted by Clemy “RTG” Vidic and will be at City View, popularly known as Game City.

It is in a quiet and safe neighbourhood.

“This is going to be one of the unforgettable shows, the sungura king always brings nostalgic vibes to shows.

“It has been a while since his last Durban performance and we are hoping the crowds will bless us with their big numbers as we celebrate the gift of life the Madirirano way,” said Vokal Bakasa, on behalf of the organisers.

In Durban the show is being organised by experience promoter Chizzybanks while Mistopher will be taking care of things in Cape Town at the Retreat Civic Centre.

Supporting acts in Cape Town will include DJs Juggling Captain, Lazzy B and Uncle Beardoo.

The MCs will be Lenny and TGunz.
