A self-styled Johanne Masowe yeChishanu prophet was arrested for allegedly killing a 12-year-old boy and removing some of his private parts for rituals in Eastview.

It is alleged that Madzibaba Tapiwa Mukura, 32, had opted to stay with Keith Anesu John, a church member for more than a month and later decided to kill him for money.

On Sunday at around 6am, Madzibaba Tapiwa went to Anesu’s mother’s house claiming that he could not locate the deceased.

Neighbours were informed about the missing boy and, during the search, they noticed a trail of blood on the ground from the doorstep.

They followed the blood trail which then led them to a nearby yard where they found the body of Anesu lying on the ground in between sweet potato ridges.

The deceased’s head was covered with soil and his clothes had some blood stains while his trousers were at knee level.

A pair of scissors was stuck on the right side of the deceased’s neck and a small cut on the right cheek. The victim’s scrotum was cut open. Upon interrogation, Madzibaba Tapiwa admitted to killing Anesu with the intention of selling his private parts to an undisclosed buyer.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.

“Police in Ruwa arrested a self-styled prophet in connection with murder.

“The deceased body was found with some cuts and missing body parts.

“Investigations are continuing,” said Insp Chakanza.
