FORMER Warriors assistant coach Bongani Mafu says returning to the classroom for the CAF A Diploma Course in Tanzania was like scoring a goal of knowledge.
Mafu, who helped Zimbabwe lift the Cosafa Cup under Sunday Chidzambwa, described the experience as “eye-opening and refreshing” after spending a week learning alongside legendary striker Peter Ndlovu.
“It was refreshing to be back in class in pursuit of a CAF A Diploma. There was so much to learn and refresh. It indeed was a worthwhile experience for me and the guys I had in class,” said Mafu.
Currently based in the UK, Mafu’s last gig in Zimbabwe was at Ngezi Platinum, where he assisted former Manchester City forward Benjani Mwaruwari. He’s also led Highlanders, Hwange, and Zimbabwe Saints, and had coaching stints in Botswana and the UK at development level.
But it was the presence of Peter Ndlovu that made the course even more special.
“Rubbing shoulders with some of the greatest names in the game like our own Peter Ndlovu was massive,” he said.
With a CAF A badge soon to his name, Mafu could be plotting a major comeback to the dugout.
