SEASONED gospel artist Mai Patai’s much-anticipated album launch drew Midlands and Harare celebrities together in the capital on Saturday.
The spiritually-uplifting album is titled Watch and Pray.
Among the guests were officials from the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe, Albert Nyathi, Madam Boss and Twins Association Group.
Twins, Tendai and Farai Katonha, were among those who graced the launch ceremony.
Supporting gospel artist Elizabeth Chinouriri led guests in bidding the highest figure for the CD and Bethan Pasinawako gave a spirited performance.
Mai Patai took guests down the memory lane with her song ‘‘Mazambara’’ that made her name before playing two off her new project.
In a speech read on his behalf, Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Deputy Minister, Tino Machakaire, appealed to corporates to promote local artists.

“A number of artists, who include Mai Patai, have shown resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic
“As a Ministry, we commend artists like Mai Patai, a pastor, a mother of four girls in coming up with a six-track album we are launching today.
“She has revived her brand and I also commend other artists for standing with each other.
“Collaborations with the corporate world are commended and I would like to urge local corporates to continue promoting our music artists and not to wait to only support them when they go regional or international levels,” said Deputy Minister Machakaire.
Mai Patai thanked fellow artists and corporates for the support she received in coming up with a polished project.
She gave some of the sponsors some certificates to express her gratitude.
